HISTORY
Sportsmobile was founded in El Paso, TX in 1961. In 1964 the company relocated to Indiana and changed the name to Sportsmobile North, Inc. Sportsmobile Texas, Inc. was started in Austin, TX in 1984. Sportsmobile West, Inc. was founded in 1990 in San Diego and later relocated to Fresno, California. Sportsmobile Texas is the principal office serving as the coordinating point for design, marketing, quality control standards, etc. Product quality? All three locations receive excellent grades from our in-depth customer report card surveys. Sportsmobile has always specialized in the conversion of vans. To the best of our knowledge, we are the oldest in the U.S. While we convert vans for all kinds of uses, our primary market has always been travel vans, also known as camper vans, Class ‘B’ motorhomes, recreational vehicles (RVs) and van conversions.

From decades of serving customers all over North America, as well as many foreign countries, we’re confident we can do just that. This moral commitment is backed by sound business logic. It just makes good sense to assist you in every way we can. A high percentage of our sales each year come from repeat sales and referrals.

By going direct you work personally with an experienced Sportsmobile designer in planning your Sportsmobile. Plus, you develop a personal relationship with the manufacturer. There’s no dealer in between!

SINCE 1961
Our first conversions were for the VW and Ford vans. The vans and our conversions were state-of-the-art at the time, but very basic compared with today’s.
We never dreamed back then that the vans and our conversions would evolve into the sophisticated, luxurious products they are today.
